Perchos project

Perchos is a group of data communication -oriented research projects conducted at the department since 2000. The projects are industrially funded (by Nokia Research Center), but contain parts that can be published as MSc theses and/or scientific papers. Currently we have 6 full time workers. The work has been partly done here at Joensuu, partly at Helsinki.

The new subproject

A new subproject on microprocessor simulation will be started this Spring. The goal is to build a simulator for an embedded microprocessor (and auxillary hardware) to be able to optimize, verify and test the hardware, OS, and application software.

Whom we look for

We expect commitment to the project, strong C programming skills, understanding of microprocessors/machine language, buses, and compilers, and team working skills. The working and documentation language of the project is English.

The work will be divided in components, so you don't have to be a professional in / learn all of the above stuff.

The selected persons will do their IT-project (erikoistyö) and MSc theses with the project. Thus, the studies should at finishing stage.

Contract

Project will last about a year, starting at May/June 2005. The work will be done at Nokia premises at Helsinki (Ruoholahti). Salary will be slightly higher than corresponding salaries at Joensuu (because of higher living expenses).
